Prophet Security emerges out of stealth with $11 million in seed funding to supercharge security operations

Vibhav and I are thrilled to announce the official launch of Prophet Security, with $11M in seed financing from Bain Capital Ventures (BCV), along with individual investments from security leaders and angel investors. Our mission is clear: empower security operations teams by automating manual, repetitive tasks, allowing analysts and engineers to focus on security tasks that truly matter.

Why Prophet Security?

Over the past seven months, we have spoken with over 160 CISOs and security leaders to understand the evolving challenges in AI and Security. Our learnings from these conversations convinced us that the pain and urgency to address challenges facing security operations teams has reached a tipping point, and AI has vast potential to transform it.

Almost universally, CISOs cited alert fatigue, escalating costs, and inability to scale due to team capacity constraints as major challenges. What’s more surprising, however, is the toll it’s taking on team morale and increased attrition. Shockingly, the average tenure of a security analyst has plummeted from 24 months to 15 months. Additionally, SOAR tools have failed to deliver as they require significant upfront investments to manually build and maintain playbooks and integrations. Out of the 160 security leaders we engaged with, only a meager 3 expressed satisfaction with their SOAR implementation. As one CISO put it succinctly, “SOAR has not lived up to its promise. Period.”

Moreover, our past experiences at StackRox (acquired by Red Hat), has given us first-hand insight into the challenges of managing alerts with the influx of new security tools.

Introducing Prophet AI for Security Operations

Prophet AI is our answer to these challenges. By harnessing AI, we have developed a solution that dramatically reduces the time and resources required to triage, investigate, and respond to security alerts. With Prophet AI, security operations teams can expect:

Why now? 

We were driven by two undeniable shifts that propelled us to action. Firstly, technological advancements in generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) have unlocked the potential to develop intelligent agents equipped with data reasoning capabilities. These agents can automate alert investigations with the speed and precision necessary for effective security operations. 

Secondly, on the industry front, adversaries are harnessing generative AI to elevate the sophistication and impact of their cyberattacks. This disturbing trend renders traditional approaches to threat detection and response ineffective. In light of these developments, it’s clear that embracing generative AI technologies is not just advantageous but imperative for organizations striving to defend against evolving threats in cybersecurity.

Data privacy underscores every aspect of our interaction with customer data. Our privacy-first architecture ensures that customer data remains secure, with flexible deployment options tailored to meet the needs of an organization. Furthermore, we have addressed data leakage concerns by ensuring that our customers’ raw sensitive data is never used to train our models. 

Prophet AI is not a black box. Our transparency-centric architecture ensures that all the evidence supporting our determination is available to the security analyst for review as needed. Finally Prophet AI isn’t meant to automate away human analysts, but rather to augment and amplify their capacity and productivity while keeping them firmly in control.

Prophet Security is currently deployed at a handful of customers in high tech, financial services and healthcare industries as part of our early access program. To get started, customers simply need to provide read-only API access to a couple of their security tools (e.g. SIEM, IDP, Cloud Platforms, EDR, Security Data Lakes).
